In 1960 African-Americans didn't like the fact that there was birth control pill, because they beleived that it was to decrease the population of the African-American race. Dick Gregory an African-American male who spoke for many when he said "First, the white man tells me to sit atthe back of the bus. Now it looks like the white man wants me to sleep under his bed. Back in the days of slavery, black folks couldn't grow kids fast enough for white folks to harvest. Now that we've got a little taste of power, white folks want to call a mortatorium on having childern." He is saying that African-Americans were slaved & tortured & now they want them to torture innocent babys that are African-American. 1 out f every 2 African-American women is more likely to abort. When there was slavery the white men would make black women have kids to have wealth. African-Americans believed that the way for them to increase political strength is to have a popultion of black kids. Years & years later African-American women agreed on the pill, so they reopened the clinics. African-American women used the pill for personal needs, but not political reasons.
